IRFSA is a small registered Non Profit Organisation (NPO #064-904) and Section 21 Company that runs a humble Shelter for Abused/Abandoned/Battered Women with their Young Children in Heideveld, Cape Town. This is the ONLY Islamic Shelter for Abused Women in the ENTIRE Western Cape! IRFSA receives no government or corporate funding and graciously survives on public donations, selling their organically grown herbs & vegetables and from the sale of second-hand items from their community shop. In 2009, IRFSA assisted 54 women and 57 young children (ages ranged from 2weeks to 17 years old). Currently there are 10 women and 18 young children on the premises. IRFSA clothes, counsels, empowers, feeds, houses and financially supports its residents.
